CSVQBO / Practical guide
How to import CSV into QuickBooks Online
Choose the correct route: QuickBooks Online usually accepts a mapped CSV bank upload; a QBO Web Connect file is mainly a Desktop workflow.
Prepare a small CSV
Keep a copy of the bank export. Use one account and currency per file, with Date, Description and Amount, or separate money-out and money-in columns. Remove balances and summary lines from transaction rows. Export values rather than Excel formulas. Identify the date order from an unambiguous day greater than 12.
Use the Online bank-upload workflow
In QuickBooks Online, find the bank-transactions area, choose the target account and its file-upload action. Labels vary by subscription and region. Follow the accepted-format list shown in your account, map your date, description and amount columns, then review the imported list before adding transactions. CSVQBO is unnecessary when your CSV already matches these requirements.
Avoid assuming QBO means Online
A .qbo extension denotes Web Connect data; it does not promise acceptance by QuickBooks Online. CSVQBO can produce QBO for a compatible Desktop importer and a normalized CSV for manual mapping. Its CSV includes extra audit columns, so select only the three transaction columns your importer asks for.
Check the first import
Try a short date range in a backup or test company. Check purchases reduce the bank balance, deposits increase it, and credit-card payments have the expected effect. Review duplicates before posting. We do not connect to QuickBooks, categorize expenses, or validate the importer in your account.
