Fix ambiguous CSV dates and debit/credit signs before import

Resolve month/day ambiguity and amount conventions explicitly before creating accounting import files.

Find an unambiguous date

11/02/2026 could mean November 2 or February 11. In automatic mode CSVQBO stops rather than guessing when the row is ambiguous. Choose month/day/year for a US export or day/month/year only when the source confirms it. A native XLSX date is already a calendar value; inspect it in Excel first.

Normalize one monetary convention

For dot decimals, 1,234.56 means one thousand two hundred thirty-four and 56 cents. Select decimal commas for 1.234,56. Parentheses, trailing minus and DR indicate negative amounts; CR indicates positive unless another explicit negative marker exists. No exchange rates are applied.

Review split amount columns

Credit/paid-in increases a bank balance; debit/paid-out decreases it. Blank cells are zero when the opposite side is supplied. If both sides contain nonzero amounts, conversion stops and identifies the source row. An existing Amount header takes precedence; remove it if you intend to use the two-column layout.

Compare a controlled sample

Choose one known payment, deposit and refund. Check the resulting date, description and amount in the preview, then compare the normalized workbook. Correct the source and upload again if a setting was wrong. Failed conversion consumes no trial or paid credits; a new successful paid upload costs another file credit.
